check out this link: http://www.radarbusters.com/support/...bs/default.asp

radar detectors don't work well in city driving, but they can really help out on a trip thru the desert.

Re: radar scanner

Here's mine, a Cobra XRS 9530

http://www.cobra.com/index.php?page=...ct_id=447&id=1

To tell the truth, its very hit or miss. There's been times where its picked up a cop when I never saw him, and other times it won't make a noise as I see the popo pass right by. But if I had to choose between not having one, or shelling out the money to get one, I'm DEFINITELY glad that I got mine. Its saved me numerous times, and actually more on the city versus the highway. The biggest thing that kills its effectiveness is going up hills because the earth blocks its readings or its just simply aimed straight into the air.

The best fuzz busters out there are the Valentine 1, and there's another thats considered better but I don't remember what its called. Google it sometime. My uncle had the Valentine 1 in his Elise and STi and he told me its been the single best "mod" he's ever bought. When I was riding with him, it was literally picking up cops that I couldn't even see with alot of consistency. Once I get a faster car, I'll definitely be getting one of those.

Re: radar scanner

Depends on a lot of things. The other thing you have to realize is that they are now using technology that the manufacturers haven't picked up on and can't read it. Also most officers now will switch on and off on individual cars, especially with laser. So when there isn't a constant signal going out, good luck picking it up.

Re: radar scanner

Yea thats true, but anytime my radar even mentions K or KA band I watch my ass. Plus you just gotta know your surroundings and assume the places a cop could be waiting. Like on the other side of hills or sweeping turns.

Re: radar scanner

Escort Passport, SOLO cordless, Valentine is what people speak of frequently. Beltronics is good bang for the buck (mine was anyway). Most people don't like Cobras for some reason. I have used my sole radar detector for a few years. I find it holds up well despite its age and has been very very handy. It's helped me learn to be a more "responsible speeder", so to speak. There are right times and wrong times to speed.
Knowing your area does help too (those dirty pigs got their "favorite spots" that are perfect for hookin' your ass.)
