Headlight switch
After buying my '99 GLS this past summer I found that the headlight switch on the steering column stalk won't turn the headlights on. They turn on fine with the automatic eye, but not the switch. The headlight switch turns on the parking lights OK, but when you turn it to the next position, everything just stays the same-no headlights. I hate to think of tearing the steering column apart just to fix that switch. Have others had this problem? Thanks.

Re: Headlight switch
Since the headlights go on with the electric eye, the switch is probably at fault. YOu could probably live without fixing the switch since the head lights still come on at night. but if you live in a state that requires "lights on when the windshield wipers are on", you could have problems.
Unfortunately I don't know how to access the switch to replace it. Maybe somoene will be nice enough to post directions. |

Re: Headlight switch
Is it possible that the eye could use a different relay than the stalk? If so then you could check that relay before tearing the steering column up.
Here are some pictures of the stalk at rockauto: http://info.rockauto.com/Airtex/Detail.html?1S1427.jpg http://info.rockauto.com/SMP/SMPDetail3.html?DS751.html |
