Need a new Car Please help!!!

Hey guys i have a 1998 pathfinder that im looking to get rid of because its killing me on gas. I drive ALOT to and from school everyday and am looking for a nice 2 door car. Im probably goign to buy used.

Basically i have some in mind Honda civic, acura RSX, toyota celica, volswagon golf. These are jsut some i was looking at. If you can recommend better i would be glad to hear about it. Im basically looking for something that looks nice and is good on gas and wont cost too much in repairs. Let me know thanks

Re: Need a new Car Please help!!!

Id go with the celica (specifically the gt-s), its quick, reliable, gets good mpg, and handles great.

We could use a little more information. Price range? what do you need/want in a car?

Price range...um i guess 10-15,000$ CADANIAN USED and from years 2003+
Im just looking for something reliable and good on gas. I drive about 100+ KM a day because of school. Gas is killing me on my SUV and parts are breaking down. Right now im leaning towards the Acure RSX. I like the styling of it and i have read some good reviews and such on it.

Re: Need a new Car Please help!!!

i got me an 04 accord coupe V6 6MT as my DD, which i could certainly suggest you consider one. i average about 25 - 27mpg mixed city and highway, which really isn't bad at all for a V6. that's comparable to many 4 cylinder cars. the V6 packs more than sufficient power for a commuter and with the 6MT, it's a rather quick car. wouldn't feel as nimble as the rsx or celica but can still be fun to drive, it's also a noticably larger car than those two but the added room can be a plus. if you can afford a little more, look into one of these. my real only complaint is the excessive road noise, but that's pretty common on hondas anyway.

I'd go with the RSX they're pretty nice cars, reliable, and get great gas mileage.

I'm a pretty big fan of the RSX. They are attractive, reliable, fairly quick, and comfortable, but you should check the insurance prices on them, I guess they run pretty high.

A civic, or celica would be your best bet.

Re: Need a new Car Please help!!!

if you want good gas mileage I would definitely check out a toyota matrix (non awd and not an xrs), celica gt (not gts), rsx (not type s), or civic. The matrix and celica gt share the same engine and many owners have reported almost 40mpg highway and usually 30+ with any type of driving. The engine also offers more low-end torque compared to the celica gts / matrix xrs engine which trades quite a bit of low end for a lot more top end power. I love my girlfriends matrix xr, it gets great gas mileage and for a 1.8L auto you would swear there's a supercharger under the hood somewhere

The RSX, civic or other honda/acura is a decent choice too and the interior looks a lot nicer. My only problem with honda is that insurance tends to be quite high on their economy and sport coupe models because all sorts of ricers steal them so much. If you can get a decent deal on insurance and you can find one at the price you want then a honda is a great choice too.

Just keep in mind that paying a lot more for a car that gets a little bit better gas mileage won't help you out until you've owned that vehicle for several years. A lot of people buy hybrids and brag about all the fuel they are saving, but the cost to purchase one compared to a car that gets 30+ mpg can be almost double...and it will take a lot of miles before those thousands of dollars more you spent actually starts saving you money.

definetly the rsx. They are reliable, pretty quick stop. If you every think about modding it out, its good. And they are really good on gas. Plus, they look sporty
