2001 safari not starting

I have a problem with my 2001 safari. After driving about 3 miles I parked and after 2 hours the van would not start. It would turn over fine and I could hear the fuel pump coming on as normal. After leaving the van over night it started like new and drove home with no problem. There were no engine codes.Whats the deal ? I know it's over due for a fuel filter.Could a fuel filter cause this. The van has 115,000 miles and runs great except for this. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Re: 2001 safari not starting

Measuring the actual fuel pressure would be the only certain method to determine if a filter might be an issue. However, since the scheduled maintenance is overdue, replacing the filter would be a good idea.

Re: 2001 safari not starting

The fuel filter was pretty stopped up, but it ended up needing a new fuel pump. should not have let the filter go so long as this probably caused the pump to fail. Any way the mothership is back on the road. Thanks for the help.
