Aftermarket intake manifolds???

Are there any other companies beside Skunk2 and Venom that make intake manifolds for the 5th gen prelude? I can't seem to find any other brands that make it. Thanks!

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

there are others but the jdm accord euro r and the skunk 2 are the only ones worth anything and even then its alot of money for a small gain unless you have a well built motor

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

OBX and Blox also make IM for the H22, but I don't know if they're any good or not.
Try typing in "h22 intake manifold" on where ever you're looking.

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

Unless you've already upgraded to high compression pistons, race cams (not street), valves, injectors, fuel pump, etc... an aftermarket manifold won't do much. The h22's stock manifold is good enough for most street cars.

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

I've seen OBX on Ebay, but I figured it was junk. Anything regarding performance on ebay is probably crap, unless it's from a brand name company. Anyways, I typed in H22 intake manifolds, and I found a thread on www.honda-tech.com regarding aftermarket im's. People were saying they don't do much good unless you're boosted or if you have a well built motor. Oh well, there are plenty more things to purchase!

x2. Just like this thread. Do a little research, then buy a good useful piece. I've looked into putting an intake manifold on, but I've also heard they're not so useful unless there's more rpms as well. Plus most of them don't have all the vac ports and/or sensor locations.
I usually don't recomend going to Honda-tech, unless its soley for searching, but they have some useful info over there. Plus this Prelude forum is dying down hardcore.

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

You think so? I know that there are more popular cars than the prelude, just because it's cheaper, the parts are cheaper, the aftermarket has a wider selection, blah blah blah. It kinda sucks, because the lude seems like, a great building block for performance, 7k redline, 200hp I4. Seems ideal for a sport compact tuner, but I guess it just didn't hit the spotlight like the civic. Oh well, we're still here, and we still represent the Lude and all its glory. Someday I'll have a five speed lude that will dominate! PRELUDE LOVE!

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

Ya...the prelude is just the fat kid on the block that can lift 300lbs. Its 200 hp VTEC I-4, but so is the integra type R, plus its a smaller, lighter car.
The civic is way lighter, and has more interior room than the Prelude, and has the same mounting bolts as the integra motors. But having a Prelude sets you apart from the rest of the Honda Crowd. The prelude handles WAY better than a civic or teg especially stock (minus the Type R).

Also, just because its sold on ebay doesn't mean its garbage. Do you're research before you buy from anyone.

Yeah, Ebay is the way to go. I have a '94 Lude, but I saw some intake manifolds on Ebay for 5th gens

Thumbs up Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

No respect for the prelude. :S As long as parts are still made for it, I'll be happy.

Well, my friend has a 5th gen lude, and he bought a header from Ebay. Well, the header wasn't long enough to connect to the cat, or downpipe. Whichever comes first. I also read an article about replicas or imitations of car parts aren't the best, because they might not be made out of quality material, simple things like that, so I just assumed that it's not worth buying things on ebay regarding performance. I'd rather stick with a name brand company, just for that reassurance factor of knowing that I bought a quality product. I'm not saying that ebay stuff isn't quality, I had a cai on my dodge avenger before it died. It fit. Nothing was wrong with it. It didn't have any mounting brackets though. I hear crap about every company though. K&N doesn't have good filters. DC sports headers' hole diameter is not much bigger than stock. Blah blah blah. But, I'm not here to hate. I'm here for the sake of the prelude. You know what, I bet if preludes were more popular, they'd be like civics. Everyone would have one, and they'd be totaly mainstream. Shit, I guess it's a good thing preludes are the "fat kids on the block". Later guys!

Re: Aftermarket intake manifolds???

I ordered a cheapo header set on ebay that came with the header, a hi flo cat, and another resonator. The header and cat bolt up to my stock exhaust. The tubes coming out of the flange at larger than stock, but the bracket that goes to the back of the block doesn't line up. It fit and still works for me. No exhaust leaks.
