My contest blitz...a few WIP's for the price of One

Alright. The MCMA Showdown is coming up March 17 I believe. I am hoping to make a good showing and possibly bring home some hardware. I'm digging out a couple of old builds that havn't seen the light of day in quite some time. My 427 Cobra, and the Cervini's mustang. Both of which got some clear and their engines painted today. Hopefully I can get these finished in time. Here is what the bodies look like, just cleared with Omni 2 part and out in the sun.

Is the Cervinis a resin transkit or did you scratchbuild?

Also, what color (part number) paint is on the AC Cobra! Its amazing!

They both look excellent.

Re: My contest blitz...a few WIP's for the price of One

the cervinis is scratchbuilt. if you are interested in a resin conversion I believe A/FX Resin has one. But I've not heard good things about their service. As for the paint on the cobra. It is Cobra Colors Devils Venom I believe was the name. It is VERY close to Sunset orange pearl offered on the last generation f-bodies. not sure what to do for wheels on the mustang. the cobra is either getting the traditional halibrands, or the wheels from the 99 cobra

I can't comment on A/FX because I've never purchased anything from them. But if you want a Cervini Mustang transkit check out

http://www.automobilminiaturen.de/as...de/index2.html

The transkit will be released soon and they will offer matching wheels!!

From my experience scaleproduction resin parts are superbly cast and have little to no flash, sinkmarks, etc...

The Mustang is Mineral Grey. An OEM Ford color.

thanks for the comments guys. for that link that was posted, you just kind of have to follow the menus, resin kits, then scale production

Re: My contest blitz...a few WIP's for the price of One

alright, the cobra is nearing completion. All that is left is some intake piping, the cooling system, front window and mount the body. Then it is on to the mustang....It also appears that I need to work on the lighting in my photo booth

That paintjob looks incredibly toothsome! Nice work on the panel lines, too.

Re: My contest blitz...a few WIP's for the price of One

I didn't want the look of all the chrome, so the exhaust and roll bar will represent a car that is DRIVEN. and beat on. I'm thinking flat black for the roll bar. I am pleased with the way the exhaust turned out, seeing as how it was all done with a brush. I am also hoping to put together a Ron Fellows edition Z06.

Re: My contest blitz...a few WIP's for the price of One

well the cobra is just about finished. All that is left is a bit of touch up, mounting the air intake tubes, seen below. And a rear plate and she is done and ready to go. The Mustang however is missing the rear glass, I hope to be able to get one from Revell Before next weekend. I also got started on the C6 Z06 Ron Fellows edition. I went out on a limb and tried rustoleum plastic primer on this new revell plastic and it worked like a charm!

The intakes for the cobra are aluminum tubing with some BestResin air filters. The tubing was polished with 1000 grit, then cleared with model master enamel clear. The filters were painted with tamiya clear red and smoke with MM flat black for the bases.
