91 buick heating problem
I am having a problem with getting the heat to blow out .
On the floor vents the it feels like the blower motor is working but it's very warm but the defrost it just barley comes. Also when I go down the road I can hear a whisling noise coming from the defrost vent. Thanks for the help on getting the air flow but I am still on getting heat. Ok it's blowing through the vents. But I am still not getting heat. When I was working in the shop I had good heat 130 degrees. Could the temp control be bad? One more question, I have a 195 thermostat but the engine will only get to 150 -160 degrees before the radiator fan kicks on. Last edited by atherts01; 01-19-2007 at 08:54 AM. |

Re: 91 buick heating problem
Do you have ACC (auto climate control)? If so, you could have a vacuum leak, vacuum line restriction at the programmer, or a lazy blend door actuator. Try turning the system off/on several times while the car is idling and see if anything changes. You might also try changing from the heat mode, to the AC mode and then to economy mode several times and with a 10-sec pause between each selection.

If its not a vacume problem...you may want to reference this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=492561

Re: 91 buick heating problem
I can see the doors opening and closing when it comes to heater, defrost and when I turn the a/c on. Is there any other vacum doors that I may not be able to see? Where is the programmer? Is that by the heater core? Before I bought the car the guy had took the heater core out and flushed it.

91 lesabre heat problem
I am not getting any heat in the car unless I am in my shop. Going down the road the heat goes away but I do hear a whistling noise it could be the windshield but I thought would put it out there. Where is the vent located at to get fresh air into the heating system? Also I can only get the engine temp up 150.

Re: 91 lesabre heat problem
If your only getting 150 your Thermostat or your sensor is bad.. Proubbly the Thermostat...
If there is no blow the heater coil proubbly is blocked. You will need to clean it. OR...It could be a vacuum line keeping it mixed with cooler air.. Good Luck.

Ok I get heat on low but when I turn the fan up it gets colder. Where is blend door actuator and how do I fix it.

It is hard to help, if you don’t answer our questions. I will include a pic of each system, to help eliminate some confusion!![]() Look on top of the heater core box and you should see an actuator (pic of a typical actuator below) with a rod connected to a lever. Check to see if the lever is connected to the rod, and also, if the electrical connector to the actuator is connected. ![]() ![]() The pic below is for the system without dual air: ![]() The pic below is for the system with dual air: For the dual control system on Buick's, the air mix valves are after the heater core, one for the passenger and one for the driver: ![]() The pic below is an actuator: ![]()

Re: 91 lesabre heat problem
This is what I have done so far. Cleaned out the AC evaporator, new temp sender for the computer, checked the water pump, put in a new heater core because there was blockage in the old one, had the head gasket checked, new thermostat and checked vacume lines.

Re: 91 lesabre heat problem
opcorn:What are your findings? The result was??? Did the thermostat bring the engine temp up? Blown air is either blocked or diverted or cold from mixing from the outside. Goos Luck

Re: 91 lesabre heat problem
My results are my temp gauge works now, the engine temp has come up, and the heater core was pluged. But I still don't have heat. Should my heater core be the same temp as my radiator??

Re: 91 lesabre heat problem
Finally figured out the heat problem. I had the coolant system flushed and the heat works great. Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that helped me fix the heat problem.
