Rough idel on Dodge pickups 1500

Power surges and not being able to hold an idel is caused by two things. Dirty throttle body and you probably need to replace your IAC Motor (Idol Air Control Motor)

Re: Rough idel on Dodge pickups 1500

I think that's my problem (IAC). My idle occassionally revs, slows, revs, etc. while it's in Park and I hop out to do something. I asked in a previous post if this is something I can do, or should I take it to the shop? Expensive fix?
Thanks

Not sure about the IAC on your hemi, maybe another hemi owner can chime in on that one.

Re: Rough idel on Dodge pickups 1500

what you can do is take off the throttle body and clean it with a throttle body cleaner. My suggestion would also to take off the IAC and Tps while cleaning it and inspect the TPS. basically all that is prolly happening is that you IAC is coated with crud and just cant get a good seat. I would also clean the hole in which the IAC sits for a good fit, and I usually just use like a brake parts cleaner to wipe away all the residue.. Most likely a hemi should have one too, unless Idle is controled by you pcm, which you may have something else goin out like a MAF or TPS, I am not sure on what the hemi uses I am just goin by what I have seen before.
