94 T&C no/low heat output

i've read the forums here and elsewhere i'm at wits end.
to date.
new serpatine belt, new water pump, new thermostat, new radiator cap, new heater control valve. flushed system and bled it for air, both heater hoses get warm. put in a "t" on the down side (not the heater control valve side) and monitored flow. Pulled interior control head and moved cable, door is opening and closing.

I have no heat, at best just slightly above ambient temp. One thing i noticed is that the air flow is reduced when the slider is moved to "heat" but increase on the "Defrost" setting. Is there a second door not controled by the cable?
Could there be something blocking the airflow around the heater core, so that the air is bypassing somehow (reduced flow).

Any other ideas?

Is there a short cut to dash disassembly? the procedure in the manuals seem to be rather lenghty 8-10 hours.
