Just wondering if there is any other offering of this kit then the horrible one offered from Heller?

That's not right, the resin kit(s) you must be talking about is(are) a kit-car (Renaissance or CB-Com), not a WRC as heller kit.

If you look for a WRC there's only Heller.


But Renaissance also provides some TK which allow to improve Heller look alike.

A resin is firstly more expensive, and then it also asks more work before really starting assembling parts.
this work is essentialy a cleaning work of the resin parts and the body.
Parts fitting could also be a problem with some kits or parts, especially roll cage.

On my opinion if you use to practice only plastic kit, you'd better buy a Heller and a Renaissance TK than a full resin kit.

BTW if you want a WRC Xsara you won't have choice.

It's my experience that the Heller kits are roughly on a par with resin kits, at least as far as the parts count and building process goes: You get a body shell, a flat plate for a chassis with some sort of inner-fender, a rudimentary interior (Seats, dash, minimal center console, roll cage of dubious accuracy and completeness at times, etc), wheels and tires that mount to the chassis with limited suspension, sometimes straight wire axles.

I think that given the fact that the resin kits come with some basic chassis, companies should take a stab at matching up their bodies, which are otherwise not available in plastic, with a chassis from Tamiya or Hasegawa or something that reasonably closely matches the real car. Even if it's not 100% accurate, anything is better than what you get most times.

I was set to do the same thing with my '03 Impreza WRC from Heller, in building it with their body on a Tamiya chassis, but Tamiya now has that body style available so there is little point. Now I plan to just have a go with the stock chassis in some way, something unusual like a rallycross or hillclimb car or something.
