Question I broke my 4L60E.

I took my car to the mechanic, and he told me that I broke the clutch drum housing on my 4L60E of my 99 Z28. How can that thing possibly brake? Now we have to replace it. Does anybody know of a company that makes stronger, "beefier" clutch drum housing or do I have to go with the stock one again? The part that broke is the aluminum ring that the shaft is going through.

Is this what you are referring to?

That is strange on a trans built to handle 700 HP

i'd take it back.

No, that's not it. My mechanic said that i'm just not lucky. He has guys with 600hp corvettes that run the same clutch drum housing, and they hold up.

Alroght, but, I'd be interested in knowing how a trans built to stand 700 HP failed. You know something to look for in the future.
