Re: Looking to buy 98 Plymouth voyager.

Don't buy any van with the 3.0 Mit engine unless you want to marry a mechanic.

They have bad head gaskets, bad timing belts, water pumps are leakers, mysterious ignition problems, oil leaks all over the back of engine, pcv valves that clog with water.

Pure junk designed for unsuspecting victims.

Re: Looking to buy 98 Plymouth voyager.

Or it could be like mine with 156k, the only problem being oil leaks which, yes, they are prone to having. I would worry less about the engine type than the transmission type. Three speed autos are nearly bulletproof, the four speeds are known to have issues unless strictly maintained. Look at the strut towers for corrosion at the tops. Being able to see the road from the top of the tower is not a good thing. There are repair kits available for this, but know what you are getting into.
