Aftermarket LS2 parts
There's LS1 parts everywhere you look. LS2 aftermarket seems to have a very non-existant market. Because the LS1 and LS2 are similar in so many respects, are many of them simply interchangable, or is it just that the LS2 is relatively so new, that the market base just hasn't caught up?

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
Are you looking for anything specific for the LS2?
Actually, the LS2 already has a huge aftermarket, from bolt-ons to a variety of heads and cams. |

Nothing in particular. Just was looking to browse truthfully. Are there a few sites in particular that stand out?

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
So most/all LS1 parts WILL work with a LS2 block, correct?
Edit: This isn't for standard GTO LS2. LS2 in a 4th gen Camaro body. (in cases where it matters)

Several sensors are located in different places. The LS2 heads are LS6 heads, so they are the same as well. Cams are the same grinds. What parts are you looking for? Bolt-ons? Internals? I have an F-Body with an iron version of the LS2 in it. The LQ9 block...sensors are the same as the LS1 and not the LS2. Feel free to ask away.

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
Well here's the deal. I have a buddy that's planning on buying either a BWL M3 or a new 'vette. Now myself, I'm extremely competitive, and actually give a damn about my ride (I care for it). For him, its just too much money. Long story short, I want a faster car, with half the budget.
So I thought about it, and I'd like a late Camaro (my dream car) with the LS2 short block, custom heads, cam, and everything, I believe it would be cheaper, and keep up. And even if its not cheaper, I can buy it over a period of time (part here, part there). I know it might be a lot of headaches I'm getting into, but when its said, and done, I'll be a hell of a lot prouder I did it myself than just being able to say "Well, I bought a 'vette because I have the cash."

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
I've seen crate LS2's for relatively cheap, so I'm sure an LS2 short-block is a little cheaper. And if you plan on doing all the work yourself, I'm sure the swap can be done within a budget,
I remember reading an article in my GMHTP about just a cam swap on an LS2 and gained 90hp at the crank. So, it was up there with the LS7 numbers-wise with just a new cam. |

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
LS2 makes roughly 340 RWHP.
LS1 makes roughly 310 RWHP. For the cost to swap in an LS2...it isn't worth it. Now. What year/model Corvette do you need to beat?? Want to hang with a C5 Z06?? Bolt-on/cam an LS1 and take some weight out of the Camaro.

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
If he gets the C6 Z06...good luck. You will need more than 500 to the wheels to stay with one of those.
Average drivers get them to mid 11's. If you do the LS2...get a stroker version. 402ci. But to get to the power you will need, it will get very expensive. Even if you do the work yourself. I know from experience. If you want that kinda power, might consider ATI ProCharger on the LS1. That and bolt-ons will be the cheaper route. Ever consider nitrous?? It works. But it isn't for some people (like me).

Re: Aftermarket LS2 parts
Man, I love ya! And no, I wasn't planning on getting SLP. I just happened to be browsing the page and wanted to let you know I wasn't buying the wrong block.
