Clicking Sound Coming From Alternator Area??...

This Problem Started Last Night. i started to hear a clicking sound on my way home. i pulled over and opened the hood. i moved some of the wires away from the pulley system thinking that was the problem. started my car up again and the sound continued.i parked my car and thought i could sleep on it. i woke up in the morning, started the car and the sound resumed. so i just drove to work. i parked my car real quick but didnt turn off the ignition , i went back to my car , put it in reverse but it wouldnt move . dashboard lights were on (leftside but i dont member what the lights said) , and steering wheel was locked. i cut off the car and tried to cut it back on , it sounded as if my car was struggling to cut back on and made a loud mechanism sound but finally cut on.

Any Clue on whats going on?

UPDATE: Cut on My Car , the clicking sounds worse , and smoke is coming from my alternator

UPDATE #2: Checked behind the alternator and found the alternator bearing just sitting in a spot by the engine , somehow it popped off the alternator?

Conclusion: New Alternator...
