91 seville - only defrost works for heat

Could it be a switch? but where?

Check the vacuum hoses under the dash. Look in the middle from the driver's side. One may be cracked or disconnected. IIRC, this will cause the system to default to defrost.

possibly the programmer or the actuator motor
