How to remove 02 Grand prix door panel?

I'm having problems with my 02 Grand Prix, the rear drivers side door dosn't lock. I can't even lock it manually. I think something might have slipped out but I want to make sure before I go somewhere to fix it. So I need to know how to remove the door panel. It looks like their is two screws behind the handle part, these have covers on them. So if i take those out do I have to pry of the panel. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Re: How to remove 02 Grand prix door panel?

There is a metal rod between the door handle/lock and the door latch assembly. Sounds like it may be loose or came off. After you remove the screws at the door handle assembly very carefully grab the bottom edges of the door panel and pull out. Then work your way up to the top of the panel. There are several plastic push pins clips that hold the panel to the doorframe. Once panel is loose grab a hold with both hands and push up and then out. Also, you can get a door panel removal tool at most auto parts stores. Some of the plastic clips may break but they are of a universal design and inexpensive. Also available at auto parts stores.
