Question Could you give me some advice about a '96 Camaro we just bought

We just bought a teal '96 Camaro, the body is in great shape, there is a crack in the dash, and we need to fix drivers side mirror. Probably needs new brakes but the engine and trans seem to be very strong, no leaks etc. My question is, To All of you Camaro owners (ecspecially '96 owners) Can you give me info about camaros, things you like, things you don't, common problems you've had, what to watch out for, etc.??? This would be so very helpful for us!
Thanks so much!

Re: Could you give me some advice about a '96 Camaro we just bought

oh hell i could tell u alot about that car....i use to have a 96rs 3800, fun car for what it was...but first off all camaros end up with that pesky vats problem...the anti theift system. they go all the time, making the car not wanting to start, hell my 96 lt1 is doing that right now, and the v6 did it as well. do your tune up on her, flush all the fluids and she should do u well. they are not known for any real problems, they are great engines. with any car that old u gonna want to think about a small re-build on the bottom end, like seals and gaskets just because its old and have been worn out. other than that u should be good. hell people use to think mines was brand new. i still have alot of stock parts from that car and this one as well, the body is the same, so if u need anything for real cheap shoot me a message..... good luck with her

Re: Could you give me some advice about a '96 Camaro we just bought

The dash is a commen problem due to the body flex. The 3.8 is the best/most powerful V6 ever offered in the f-body(Before anyone reminds me of the 89TTA that was also the 3.8 buick block). So I think you will be very happy with it. Only issue I have with these style cars is that the handling isn't the greatest and the go-kart sized ring gear.

On the dash, you can get a cap that will cover up the crack and look like a factory dash. Check out Coverlays web site.
