ABS and AWD Disable 2002 Montana Versatrak
Can anyone give me some tips. I live in Germany and have a 2002 Montana that I brought over from the states. At a little over 50000 miles and 3,5 years in service, a valve broke and blew the engine. I obtained a used engine and had it sent over from the states and it has now been installed by a local independent garage. Once they had the replacement engine in and started it up, everything works fine except that the ABS and AWD disabled warning lights go on. The garage owner has stated that they have checked all of the ABS sensors and that they are ok. He also says that they are sure that they have reconnected all wires and that none are pinched anywhere.
He took it over to an official GM import dealer located about 20 miles from here and had them access the fault memory storage in the electronic management unit and he said that there is no fault stored relating to this problem.
This morning I picked the car up and am now driving it in this condition. In the meantime the garage owner said that he has a cople of info request running somewhere and that I should come back in a week at which time he will recheck everything with the replacement engine and see if he has any new info about the ABS and AWD problem.
I myself am an electronic specialist for forklift electronic controls and know that quite often these type of problems only require a reset of the power to the electronic module. I disconnected the battery this afternoon for about a half an hour and reconnected it. It made no difference, so that is not my problem. Normally I would think that my problem has to do with a loose connection, a bad sensor or a pinched wire somewhere.
If anyone can give me some ideas of where else to look, I would greatly appreciate your comments
Thanks
