Re: 06 ser mods?
a cold air intake is your first stop and right after that is motor mount inserts, then header and balance shaft removal, all very effective

Re: 06 ser mods?
people have had problems with how their car runs with a throttle body spacer, plus its best used after you already have mods, the ones i listed give the best gains

Re: 06 ser mods?
you can use headers and cams also, both of those will give you some nice gains. just get street cams. race cams will get you more top end but wont be worth it because of the drop in useable hp and torque. plus with some stage 1 cams you dont have to replace the valvesprings and retainers.

Re: 06 ser mods?
theres a balance shaft assembly that sits in the oil pan, basically a set of counterweighted gears that spins opposite the direction of the crank, to compensate for the imbalance of a 4 cylinder engine with a huge stroke. not only does it suck power by running off the crank, its spinning gears in the oil pan froths the shit out of your oil, potentially leading to some nasty oil pressure related issues.
jim wolf tech has a removal kit that replaces it with a baffle in the pan. the only downside to removing the assembly is increased vibration, which ive heard is no worse than having stiff motor mounts. ive heard it suggested that you will gain 5-8 whp with the balance shafts removed. ive also heard that its probably a good idea to ziptie all loose wiring in your engine to prevent harness failure due to the extra vibration.

Re: 06 ser mods?
technosquare reflashes spec ecu's but it costs like 600 bucks or something for a 1000 rpm increase but you need new valve springs rated to 7500 rpm, also its useless without the jwt cams to use the extra redline, its like a 1500 dollar upgrade to do it right

Re: 06 ser mods?
increasing redline in a spec is very very risky. the valve springs arent what need fixing, its the huge stroke and horrible rod ratio. unfortunately theres not much you can do to fix this. there are a few companies that have toyed with the qr as a race engine, and found that increasing the redline to 7000 brings piston speeds higher than an F1 car. think about that for a sec. F1 cars spin to over 15,000 rpm... instead, do what you can to make as much power under the stock redline.
