Brake light indicator

While driving my 1998 Ranger with 61,000 miles, and have occassion to press the brake pedal, the brake indicator light comes on and stays for a few seconds, then goes off. This occurs everytime I press the brake pedal while driving. The emergency brake is completely off as I pull the handle several times, trying to get the light to go off, but it still stays on for a few seconds each time I press the brake pedal.

Re: Brake light indicator

be sure that the emergency brake pedal is pulled up. sometimes pulling the handle doesnt always do the trick for mine. also. i would start simple. check your fluid level in the mastercylinder. dont take the lid off the m.c. unless you need to add some. also check all your lines and hoses for any seapage.
