Air Filter Bolts

Does anyone know the size of the 3 air filter screws on the TB? I replaced my filter tonight and stripped them just a bit so I'd like to just go ahead and replace them. I assume this must be a standard size that Pep Boys or Autozone would have on the shelf. Then again, nothing else has been easy with this Trailblazer, so probably not.

Re: Air Filter Bolts

On my 05' I think these are phillips screws, but I have only changed my air filter once so I can't really remember. The dealer will probably be the best place to get these...at least you know they will fit, and they may not be any more expensive than what you get at autozone......less frustration also, knowing you don't have to look at several places that might have the right size.....

Re: Air Filter Bolts

Shawn, I'd thread one out and take to a home/hardware center to match it up with a hex head replacement. One of mine is buggered up as well. They were a bear to get out the first time. I slathered them with never seize & just barely snug them now. I hate the airfilter box cover design on these. It was designed for sound abatement and that's about it.

Re: Air Filter Bolts

I agree that the design of this thing is bad....but it beats the 98'windstar I have. I replaced the air filter last night on the TB and took your advice, I didn't have any anti sieze but I put some lithium grease on the threads before putting it back in, should help with removal next time......

Re: Air Filter Bolts

Hehe.. Chuck my 2001 windstar airfilter housing is a real joy to work with as well. Luckily for some reason that air filter never seems to get dirty! I'm on air filter #2 in 75Kmi on the winny.
