How to clean AEM K&N air filter?

I have an AEM CAI with a K&N air filter on it. Do I just spray it with a hose or what? How do I clean it? Do I even need to clean it?

They are cleanable. Thier is a special solution you buy. Go to any K&N dealer and buy the liquid, then read the instructions.

Be careful people, some of these generic style filters you see on like OBX, and APC style intakes (generic style) don't use a K&N style filter that you oil. Some of these you just simply hose off, and let air dry. It's only K&N filters that you oil with a recharge kit, not any K&N style filter. But like the filter that came with my APC short ram, I've heard that oiling them is actually bad for them, since they are not the same concept as a true K&N filter. Double check everyone, before you go out and get a K&N oiling kit for your filter.

Yes, AEM puts genuine K&N filters with it's intakes.

uh..no it's coated with oil so it somewhat repells water. You don't have to clean it that often. I would clean it like ever 30k or something it does have like some crazy 10 year 1million mile thing but just clean it whenever u think it needs to be cleaned. I claned mine once and I have 30k on it.

i got the OEM foglights set up to do it... when i got them installed... u hafta cut the bumper to make room for the fogs... n they came with a trim... technically you are not supposed to cut out the piece in the well of the bumper (the piece that kinda looks like a closed vent)... but i got that done n placed a mesh behind the opening of the foglight trim... there was one thing i forgot to do... it wuz to make a panel out of the plastic piece that was cut out... i wanted to place that panel in the hole so that the filter wont get soaked when i drive in the rain... its a big hole right in front of the filter if u go into a deep puddle... so i had to fabricate one from scratch... its not really a true ram air set up... but i can feel a lil bit more response on those calm n cool nites...

It wont work for us. The front clip of the 99/00 Civics is different than the 96-98 front clips. Our fog lights mount in a different spot.
