Got a little suprise in the mail

So my friend ordered a 54 trim from SBR we were going to throw on the car. After a big dibacle with SBR they end up sending us a freakin PTE 61 trim. We are kinda stuck trying to figure out what to do with it. His car is just a bored out 2.0 ltr(2.2) with stock internals. I'm curious as to if this turbo is going to be to laggy to put on this car, or if we should just sell it and get something else.

Thoughts, suggestions?

Does SBR not know their shit or what???

I've never placed a big order (>$150), but I've never had a problem out of them...

I've heard other peoples' horror stories though...

Re: Got a little suprise in the mail

Give it to me! That bastard would put down my goals really nicely!

Well, lag is all dependant on the user. To me, 35r has just a bit more than the perfect amount of lag. To others (like this guy I talked to at a baseball game with my friend Eric) if its not spooled by 3k its too big. Its substantially bigger than the 54 trim you were after, so if he would like the extra headroom for mods then I say go for it. However, if you are shooting for 350-400 hp, then that 60-1 is probably a little much.

I would just get on the phone with SBR and start bitching. I too havent had any problems with them, but I know a person that has had a horrible time with them.

Also, boring a car will never get you an extra .2 liters of displacement. The gain of boring is negligible especially on 4 cylinder cars. I can show you the math if you want me too.

I would just sell it and see if you can make some money on it, then buy what he really wants.

Re: Got a little suprise in the mail

too laggy for street use IMO. I would always get the jump on dsm's with turbo's like that, and they had to real me in. Usually, the race would before they could really use the powerband.

Didn't you already do it for me on AIM?

Yeah we don't know what to do with it. I think he wants to keep it but I'm weary because he basicly has a stock motor and it would be a shame to not be able to use the power from the turbo. I ran into an old post from Kevin talking about he ran a GT35R on a 2.0ltr fine and was spooled by 4000-4500.

As far as SBR is concerned. I placed this Order before Christmas and it just got here. We have been battling on the phone for three weeks just to get them to send anything at all. I'll never use them again.

Re: Got a little suprise in the mail

Awesome the company screws up and the customer comes out on top. I have made many orders from SBR including a $700 plus order and I have yet to have a problem with them. If it was me I might try to sell it and get a profit then buy the one I want.

Re: Got a little suprise in the mail

hey, how a/b you buy the 50-trim I've got... I need $150 for the new ECU, so I'll let it go for that...
It's used, but I can't see anything wrong with it... I'll send pics,etc...

I've been thinking a/b putting it on e-bay...

I was gonna use it, but didn't have money for DSMLink or injectors right now... and I'm getting sunk w/ all the problems since putting mine back together...
