what transaxle is in 93 MX6

Is it a [shudder] cd4e or a gf4a-el ? Can anyone tell me about the " I've only got 1st and 2nd" problem ? Is it the trans [crap] or a sensor maybe ? Any info on trouble codes etc will be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks in advance.
