Question JDM in the United States

Hi to all,

I am from Malaysia. Just wondering. Are JDM parts in the USA rare (i.e. Hard to find?) What about aftermarket Japanese performance parts? Is it expensive?

Anyway, was just wondering as I've got a friend who will be there in the States for studies.

Thanks.

not much money can be made from my stand point with front clips. Plus it takes up a lot of place in a container. all people really need are motor/tranny/harness/ecu/gauge cluster/fenders/hood/lights/bumper. the frame isn't needed and that's what weighs a lot.

And motors and trannys dont wiegh alot? makes alot of sense. What he means by a front clip is hood, bumper and lights. Seems sketchy to me that you are claiming you can get JDM stuff but dont understand what he means by a front clip.

When i think of front clip-I think of everything forward of pretty much the firewall (hood, fenders, front end/bumber, cross member, headlights, bumper lights, corner lights, engine, trans, radiator, etc...). I know mellowboy meant the JDM EF8 CR-X SiR front(end) conversion...which includes the hood, front end/bumber, headlights, corner lights (usually), bumper lights, and sometimes the fenders w/ or w/o the amber side markers. it was just a case of people having a different definition of the term "front clip." It was very similar to the flame war that got started over someone on a different thread using the term POWER ADDER in the "wrong way" in some elses opinion. anyways, hope that helped

I don't think you understand the meaning of front clips actually. a front clip is exactly what it means. everything from the fire wall forward. they take the car from japan and chop off the entire front of the car. not just take parts off of it...i mean actually cut it in thirds. now the space that a front clip takes up in one of my containers i can put and extra 4 motors in were i can make way more money than just one front clip. like i said before it takes up space and the only thing you need is the drivetrain, ecu, hood, bumper, fenders and lights. you don't need the rest of the unibody. here's a couple of pictures of a sir2 front clip if your still confused
