KA24DE cam to shim clearances

I have a KA24DE that just got rebuilt and assembled, and now the man who built my motor is in the final step before it goes back in the car. Since the head had new valve guides installed at the machine shop, the cam to shim clearances have most likey changed enough to warrant changing the shims around/and or getting some new ones. The dilemna lies in the fact that the FSM specifies that the motor has to be at operating temperature to measure the clearances. My motor is on a stand and cannot be run obviously. What do we do to get the clearances right on a cold motor, when the specs we have for the cam to shim clearances are for when it is hot?

Re: KA24DE cam to shim clearances

are you running stock cams? really all i can suggest is using new stock shims while assembling, it should be close enough to avoid any problems just starting the motor up for a little while so you can correctly measure it. the KA has dished pistons so you should have no clearance issues there if its indeed off.
