this is dumb but hear me out

would you be able to put an intercooler on a nonturbo car? and would it help performance wise?

There really isn't a need for it. Intercoolers are a necesity on turbo vehicles because the turbo is powerd by the exhaust. The heat from the exhaust and the heat genereated from compressing a gas cause the charged air to be very hot, hence the need for the intercooler to bring the temp back down to where your car takes air in regularly. At the same time cooler air is better, but the changes are around 1 HP per 10 deg. farenheit lower. Plus putting an intercooler on an all motor setup would waste power because your engine would have to work harder it take in air. If you are interested in cooling down your incoming air by a considerable amount (only really nesessary in drag cars) check out DEI, they have a CO2 system that supercools the intake piping.
