Wink looking to by BMW

I would like some info. I am looking at buying a 1998 BMW 328i. I just need some information. The car I was looking at seems to run and drive great it is at a used car lot and they really dont have that much info on it. It has 120,ooo miles on it. The only prob I could find with the car is the back light on the odomoter would not light and you can barly read the mileage. The info center under the heater controlls when you hit it it looks like it is scrambled a little bit. I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and how much would it cost to fix it. The car is real clean on the inside and out. The only modification is that is has after market exaust and after market wheels on it. I forgot to get the vin to run a car fax on it. This is a great forum and I have gotten abunch of useful info. If anyone could help I would appreciate it. Thanks John

Re: looking to by BMW

The On Board Computer is scrambled is a common problem, you can try to fix it but best to get a new one $200. Also make sure that the waterpump was changed recently because the original plastic ones will fail around that milage and you will overheat.

good luck
