vs overheating
i have a vs, it overheats only when idle. the fan works but only kicks in once the engine is already too hot. any ideas?

have you checked the water levels? my VS has droped to below empty (bone dry) on me once, that's bad.

your themostat could be a little high is it an 82 degree thermostat if it is youll need a lower one also i would check to make sure your radiator isnt internally blocked

HOODSCOOP!!!!!!
Get a fully sick hoodscoop to bring in the air, remove the engine cover so the air goes straight onto the engine. www.ssv.com.au might have a few and www.spoilerfactory.com.au might as well SSV is located in RYDE in Sydney, and Spoiler Factory are in W.A. |

ey what motor is it, a 3.8 v6 or a 5.tr 304.
could be -cracked head gasket -blocked radiator -fcuked thermostat or wrong one -hole in the radiator AND, how long do u leave it in idle, if its in idle for ages on a kinda warm day it will overheat b coz no air goes through the radiator ro cool it down. [PSI-EFI] |

check the thermatic fan sender in radiator........a black one is for high temps swap for a white one...turns fan on at lower temps.....i had same problem.took to my brother who is service manager at holden dealer swapped it over now turns on just over at 1/3rd
