driver seat will not move

2001 pathfinder, been great up till now. A day or two ago the driver side seat stopped moving forward and back. Normally not a problem but my wife and I both drive....I'm 6'4", she's 5'9". So obvious, need to get this fixed so she can actually reach the pedals.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has 1) had this problem before or 2) actually gotten into the nuts and bolts of the electric seats. The seat still tilts forward and back but just doesn't go forward/back...so I know its not a blown fuse. Seat definitely still has power. Loose wire perhaps?

Had same problem, but seat worked again after a day. When you move the slider you can still hear the relay kicking in, but I was going to try and check the relay under the seat. A worn relay can click over and still not give enough contact to power seat. I also noticed that this happened after I had the heated seat on for a long time. So maybe the relay got a little hot.

Re: Re: driver seat will not move

I had the same problem, with the seat moving every which way, but not forward and back. Nissan said a new motor costs $550. Does anyone know if you can jsut replace the fuse?

Locate the power seat motor.. tap it with a hammer while holding the power seat switch .. if the seat starts working , you need a seat motor...

550 for a motor , i dont believe that, maybe its labor, swap the whole seat out from a junkyard car or get a motor from a junkyard.......

Had same problem with a 02 Infiniti I35 and bought the parts at infiniti-parts.com. Cost was $262.00 and took me 45 minutes and after job was done Seat worked perfectly again.

Need to replace the long Screws that go on left and right side under seat. Mostly the left side one gets damaged more than the right side.

Motor was perfect, Nissan needs to correct this problem since it happens after 3 years and it should last more that 10 years in service with no problems

There's a TSB out for this problem, IIRC.
