Strut replacemnt- 95 transport

I am doing some freshing up of the front end, including new struts and sprongs. The info supplied with the strut cautions to align the flat spot on the upper speing mount directly under the opening where the strut mounts onto the spindle, yet the old spring was mounted about 30 degrees off. Tried doing it according to the info and it didn't look right, so aligned as per old marks. Using OE style springs and struts, not the universal style. Also, is the upper bearing supposed to be more or less perpendicular to the strut? This one has a quite pronounced lean to it, at least on the bench without the weight of the van on it.
Thank you
Jeff

Re: Strut replacemnt- 95 transport

Will this provide some kind of complementary info?

Thank you for the prompt reply LMP. I guess the bearing is angled and was not aligned, which made it look odd. Struts in place in van now
