Truck is flooding when i step on the peddle

I have a 97 GMC Sierra 2x2 6 cyl engine....The truck starts fine and idles fine but when you rev the engine it acts like it is flooding out. It does this driving or in park. Any ideas what may be the problem. Thanks for any and all help.

Kind of hard to tell from your description. What is the fuel pressure? Mileage? Exhaust could be clogged. Timing chain, vacuum leak or another mechanical issue.

Start with the basics, is the engine getting enough fuel, air and can it breath (exhaust)?
