Re: Air intake?

Its a system of pipe that replaces the stock air inlet system known as the air intake that gets air from the outside of the car into the engine. The two types of after market air intakes are warm air intake which positions the filters inside the engine bay and a cold air intake which positions the filter outside of the engine bay and almost always in the fender whel.

The main uses of an after market air intake is better/quicker air inlet flow and in most cases they suck in a colder air then what stock intake systems do as they are not made out of crap materials and are not positioned close to heat producing engine components. AF intakes also add a slight performance edge to your vehicle in the way of hourse power and tourque as well as a little bit of a better exhaust profile tone but not much. Also it will up your gas millage a touch so long as you dont led foot it thinking your car is super fast after putting in the intake.

Re: Air intake?

you can get a cold air/ram air/whatever anywhere from $30-200. The only real difference from the $30 to the $200 is that the filter is going to be of better quality and the unit is going to fit perfectly. If you have any sort of coordination and a few basic tools you should be able to put on one of these intakes, if not, i dont think you should ever work on a car again. This is easier than changing your oil....

Re: Air intake?

ebay FTW....it wont b perfect, it wont have excellent placement, and it wont look AMAZING! but for 35 dollars (it doesnt sound like you are about 2 drop 3k for a turbo kit and upgraded engine internals) its gonna give you the better air flow and a little better gas MPG your lookin for...
