Which power steering pump do I need?

1999 Grand Am 3.4L Auto. I need to replace my growling power steering pump but I don't know if I have variable assist or not. One place I looked for the pump list a "NV7" code for variable assist. How can I find out if this code is on my car? The VIN doesn't seem to carry that info...

How can I tell? The pump does have an electrical connector on it. Does that make the difference?

Look under the spare tire cover for the list of option codes for your car. It'll be on a sticker on the back side of the cover.

Yes your 99' has that VA steering.
That is what the plug on it is too.
