Looking for advice from those who know.
Like the title states I'm only looking for advice here, but new ideas are always welcome, as well as dollars if you wish to donate!
Tony get you ass in here! LOL its turbo time! Ok, I was gonna buy a B&G kit but I really dont want to throw out $4500 right now. I'm trying to get out of debt not renew it. So I'm thinking about making my own turbo kit. Looking for 600-630ish rwhp/tq. Heres the plan: PT76GTS (room to grow) Tial 50mm BOV & 44mm WG 825hp A/A front mount intercooler Ceramic coated shorties 2.5" cross-over 3" cold side piping 3.5" DP Y'd into 2.5" tailpipes with quiet straight thrue mufflers and stainless tips WG vent plumbed back into DP V-bands on hot side Silicone couplers & T-bolt clamps on cold side Anyone see anything I'm leaving out or room for improvement? Speak up and let me know, I want to be driving by spring.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
Your BOV does not need to be that big, but it will not hurt. Yes, that will make that power. What BC are you going with? The crappy ones work pretty good.
That is pretty much my set-up Except mine has a crappy 3" DP. If you get a good deal on V-band clamps let me know, I need a 2.5.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
RPS I think has about the best deal on V-bands, seems like you get a discount for being a TM member since he is a dealer there too.
Not sure on the BC. I'd like to think the WG will be big enough to keep the boost under 15psi. I should be hearing back from the machine shop in about a week on my motor. Hope the block isnt split. The turbo upgrade will depend on that. What spring would you recomend for the wg to keep the boost under 15psi? 1bar?

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
That is the same size WG I am going to use. A Turbosmart unit with I believe a 10psi spring, that size WG is well being enough to get you down to 8psi.
You cracked the block?

Back to the turbo thing, relatively how much boost do you think it would take for the 76 to net me 600rw? Basically the non intercooled S-trim @ 14psi is giving me that number. I know it would have been 580+ rwhp if I had no run lean & lifted the heads & had to shut the motor down 800rpms early.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
about 9-10psi should do it, no problem. The T76 has a fair amount more volume, and will be cooler with the IC.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
Well this is still up in the air until I hear back from the machine shop on my block. I talked to them this week and he will have an answere to the is it broke question before christmas. But, if the block is good then I will be ordering a B&G turbo kit for my car. Someone buy this S-trim!
The B&G kit will consist of: PT76GTS 825hp A/A intercooler 50mm Tial BOV 44mm Tial wastegate black ceramic coated plumbing 3.5" downpipe V-bands on hot side silicone couplers and T-bolt clamps on cold side passenger side mounted turbo My current exhaust plans for the turbo system are a 3.5" inlet dual 3" outlet Magnaflow straight thru muffler with 3" tail pipes and 3" stainless tips at the rear bumper. You guys think this will be quiet at all? It better not be anywhere near as loud as my current blower exhaust. Right now I have 1-3/4" primary 3" collector longtube headers, 2' of 3" pipe, Dynomax race bullets, and 3" turndowns that point out infront of the rear tires. You can hear this car nearly a mile away, literally. Also I just purchased a 10-point roll cage from Wolfe racecraft. This cage is good for 9.99-8.50 in the 1/4. I just have to weld it in and get certified. I guess I'll go get kicked off the track in the spring and let them give me the paperwork I need to get certified. Other plans for this winter are to upgrade to 33 spline Strange axels, either a locker or a spool, race seats and harness, and build a rear firewall for the fuel cell. This is turning out to be one hell of a street car. When I first started looking for a foxbody to build I was looking to build a low 12 second EFI stock block nitrous 5spd street sleeper. Then I bought a 351w and decided to get a little more radical and build a solid cam'd big headed all motor 10 second car. Then I changed my plans again, I figured to build a mild hydro roller 351w with an S-trim as an introduction to boost and try to run 10's that way. Now that I have driven the car on the street, even though I never got to race it with the S-trim I want more! Boost is adictive! The car makes sick power as is, but I want to make it a little more street friendly. I could change the exhaust, make a couple other small changes and it would be fine. But I want it quieter at idle, so the blower has to go. Now I'm upgrading to a turbo, full exhaust, better rear, and a cage. Hmm, except for the big hood, big tires, roll cage, and the rough idle I still have my street sleeper.....right? Over the summer when I can depend on this car for daily transportation I'm gonna be rebuilding my 1990 F-150. Gonna give it some "fixin up". Also I'm going to rebuild the 302 and shoot for some good low rpm torque to better pull my car over the state line into Bristol Tn to race at Thunder Valley. I'll be posting that progress here as well. Thanks to those of you who have helped and advised me along the way. I wouldnt have gotten this far had it not been for some of you guys! Feel free to leave any thoughts or comments. David

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
It always manifests into something a little more than just a street car
when you get bit by the GO FAST CRACK PIPE

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
Do you think this single magnaflow muffler would be pretty quiet Tony? I'm gonna look into running two 3" ultrflows as well. Couple guys on TM suggest them as a good quiet straight thru turbo muffler.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
Yep, that would be fine. Turbos tend to make the car run quite to begin with, and a good muffler like a magnaflow would make it a nice ride.

Re: Looking for advice from those who know.
Cool, I think thats what I'll do. I just checked out the ultra flows at Summit and they are glass packed where the magnaflows are stainless packed. I've had mufflers come apart before and with the exhaust pressure from a turbo I'd rather have a quality muffler like the magnaflow. Plus with a 3.5" inlet and dual 3" outlets I get my Y-pipe and muffler all in one! Then I can route the 3" tail pipes around my fuel cell, anti-roll bar, and fuel pump. I'm trying to make the back view of the car look like a stock lx with big tires. My cell goes thrue the floor but the cell, pump, and fuel lines are all tucked up high enough that the bumper covers everything so you cant see it.
