Transmission trouble?
I have a 98 Windstar, 3.8 engine. When I first start the van and shift into reverse to back out of a parking space, nothing happens, no indication that the trans has engaged. I then shift into drive and then right back to reverse it will then engage. After that no problems. Does this sound like a trans rebuild or something simpler? Thanks

Re: Transmission trouble?
Let's hope that it is something simple, like the Transmision Range Sensor (TRS), also called Neutral Safety Switch.
This is located on top of the transmission, under that big flex hose that goes from the Air filter to the throttle body. That is about the cheapest and easiest thing it could be. The Transmission is electronicaly controlled. I am not real optomistic.....but let's hope it is that easy.

Re: Transmission trouble?
Thanks, I'm not real optimistic either but the TRS is worth a try.
