Audi Quattro Rally
Can anyone tell me if the Revell Germany Quattro Rally is the old Tamiya kit reboxed, or if it is an entirely different kit? At first guess I would have said no way, but Tamiya has certainly reboxed RoG and Italeri kits for their domestic market, and Revell has been known to rebox stuff as well.
If they're different kits, is the Revell any better than the Tamiya? I have the street version of the Tamiya kit, and I'm hoping to find the rally version to go with it. Sure, the Tamiya kit isn't quite up to their modern standards, but it's good anyways- and for me it's a nostalgia thing. I might consider the Revell if it's appreciably better (could happen, I guess ), but otherwise I'll keep trying to find the Tamiya- or wait for a reissue (also could happen someday, I guess)....

Tamiya has re-released his Quattro a few years ago (3/4 I think) Quote:
But rally and road cars are almost the same. I have a lot of spare parts for tamiya rally quattro, if you only miss some parts feel free to ask, I may have them, I bought a lot on Ebay to a quattro collector who had probably opened dozen of boxes to build his models and saled what was resting... Re: Audi Quattro Rally
The Revell kit is indeed the Esci rebox, and if you're thinking it may be dubious quality, you'd be correct.
I don't think the Revell kit even has an inkling of engine detail whereas Tamiya actually does.

Re: Audi Quattro Rally
The Revell Quattro is grossly inaccurate, especially at the front.

Re: Audi Quattro Rally
I had a look at the Revell kit in my local model shop a while ago,as I have the Tamiya rally version to build and wanted to see if the Revell kit was any better. It was not very good in my opinion I would stick with the Tamiya kit.

Re: Audi Quattro Rally
Isn't the Pikes PEak version a Audi S1 or Sport Quattro version?

Re: Audi Quattro Rally
Really, it was rereleased a few years ago? Damn, where was I?
![]() rallymaster, thanks for your offer. Unfortunately, it's not that I'm missing a few parts, so much as the whole kit. I could turn up another street version of the kit, but I would still need parts sheets C, D, and E, decals, and possibly tyres too. (However if you have this stuff and aren't using it, I'm sure we could come to a deal. )RoG has been known to rebox Hasegawa kits (such as the 944 Turbo and Lancia 037). I figured it was unlikely they reboxed a Tamiya, but best to check anyways. Keep searching, I guess. Wonder why we haven't seen many Quattros built up here?

I sometimes still see some of this kit in french stores. finding some on Ebay must not be difficult I guess... There still exists some stock here and there. EDIT: by the way it seems to be still availbale at NIMPEX, in Stuttgart, Germany: http://www.nimpex.de/cgi-bin/shop/fr...=TA_24036&all= Quote:
I must have a decal set too, as I am converting the tamiya version into a 1984 version with Renaissance decals. (at least external decals, for the inside I'm not sure Renaissance offers all decals - dashboard for example) so I have the fenders extensions, too, although I don't have body sprue (E). I must have tyres too, but firstly need to be sure I won't need them for anything else. C sprue available is sure ! If you can't put your hands on a kit in the next weeks or want to get this C sprue right now, feel free to contact me. If I find a few minutes tomorrow I will take a pic of what I could send to you.
