Lightbulb High flyin' patriotic whiskey runner.

Seems this good ol' boy from the hills decided to trade in his "work car" for something that would really fly when the shooting started in '41 and help out his "Uncle" a little. After hauling whiskey for a few years this might just seem easy. Not sure which is more exciting...... Getting chased and shot at at 100 mph on those old mountain roads at night with no lights or getting chased and shot at at over 300 mph in the wild blue yonder and being able to shoot back. Using a mix of 21st Century plastic and Ertl diecast, I first shot this pic in color but liked the old school "feel" of it in black and white better.

Re: High flyin' patriotic whiskey runner.

Very cool picture, as you always do.... not sure it belongs in motorsports though?

Hope we can see more of the actual car, engine and interior pics, that sort of thing...

Re: High flyin' patriotic whiskey runner.

Generally I don't "do" engines or any other detail that isn't readily seen from the "curb" so there isn't much more to see on the Ford. My builds are more of photo props or "window dressing" than full tilt detail loaded builds. I get a lot more enjoyment out of actually finishing a model and shooting and sharing pics of it and stories about the owners and drivers of the real ones. I've been away from the bench for what seems like forever but I'm putting the finishing touches on a new building station that I hope lets me get some building done this winter. For a change of pace I've got a "no holds barred" full detail buildup of a '57 Chevy stock car turned whiskey tanker in 1/12 scale with opening everthing! Keep an eye out for that one 'cause I'll share it with ya'll first.

Nice build! Luke '57 is an acquaintance of mine from the NASCAR modeling and other hobby boards. He builds some great stuff and dioramas that look real.

I have the urge to build me a gutted out '57 Ford myself in the whiskey runner theme.
