steering wheel locked

i have a 97 grand prix and the steering wheel is lock so i can not start my car can someone help

Make sure your shifter is all the way in park. Underneath your key/ignition there is a rubber piece, pop that out. There is a button you can push in on somewhere to unlock the steering wheel. I think the problem may be there is a solenoid that goes bad and causes this to happen. I have had several friends w/ GP's that have had to get it replaced...someone that has delt w/ this problem could probably help you out more though and know exactly what to do. I'll try to find a write-up ive seen for this on another forum and post it up for you.
