Little Red Straw has entered throttle body!!
I mean I read the articles about making sure that stupid straw doesn't fly out when cleaning the throttle body into the intake, but this BEEATCH went shooting right in!
I remove the throttle body itself but still can't get at the intake enough to fish it out, it's fallen down one of the intakes (i can still see it, but feel screwed) how much will this create havoc? Seems like those chambers are dirty enough that a little red plastic wouldn't be the end of the world ??? g |

Re: Little Red Straw has entered throttle body!!
well...if it did get sucked into the engine it could be hit by the valves. There are two outcomes here: 1. The valves hit the red plastic and shatter it [the plastic] to peices, vaporizing it in the cylinder. or... 2. The valves hit the red plastic at such a high speed that the valve cracks/chips.
If #2 happens then you might be in some trouble. If you can still see it, then try sticking a wad of duct tape to the end of a stick and try to fish out the red peice. |

Re: Little Red Straw has entered throttle body!!
go to a store that sells plumbing stuff, and ask for a thing called a Pearl Catcher. you get either rigid or flexible ones. get a flexible one. it's like a hollow tube with a "handle" at one end. you push a button on the end and 3 little "claw" come out the other end. as you release the button, the claws grip. if you can see the thing, you can carefully use the pearl catcher to get it.

I doubt the plastic straw will cause a problem.

Re: Little Red Straw has entered throttle body!!
It will not cause any problems.
Them things are soft plastic and will melt when the engine get hot. But as said if you can still see it they make tools to grab it. Good luck

Re: Little Red Straw has entered throttle body!!
Amigos,
Thanks for the replies, well I've been driving up to boston and back with no problems, most likely it's vaporized, but what a drag. I like the duct tape idea, thanks pearl grabber....that's the name!
