The driver side slide door on my 2000 Windstar (power locks) has started "relocking" itself after I open all the locks. At this point the problem is sporatic but occurance seems to be increasing. The lock stem will pop up but then immediately drops back down relocking the door. Any ideas?

Re: 2000 Windstar side door lock
The lock actuator is bad. This appears to be very common. The part is approximately $55 but the shops charge about $200 to replace it. There are web sites that explain how to remove the inside panel and remove the outside door handle to replace the actuator.

Re: 2000 Windstar side door lock
The web sites I have found are for the driver's door, not the sliding door.

Re: 2000 Windstar side door lock
You can find replacement power lock mechanisms on bay for about $24 plus shipping. To pull of the panel is not that hard, you will need putty knife separate the panel form the door,
