Chevy S-10 Water Pump Troubles

We've been working on the water pump of our Chevy S-10 Blazer for two days now, and it won't come out. We can't even get it loose. Apparently we have to take out this whole assembly thing, and the stupid water pump won't come out and we've been working on it for two days.

Any suggestions?

Step by Step intructions, please?

Anything to help.

Sorry about that.

It's a 96 Chevy S-10 Blazer, and I think it's a V-6 engine.

Re: Chevy S-10 Water Pump Troubles

All you have to do is remove the belt, the cooling fan (for which you will need the fan holder and wrench) , hoses and then remove the 4 bolts that hold the water pump to the engine block...
What part are you having problems with?

Apparently we're having trouble removing the fan to get to the hoses to get to the water pump.

Do you have any instructions on how to remove the fan?

I really appreciate your help.

P.S. I'm having trouble logging in, it'll say I'm logged on,then when the board comes back up, I won't be logged in anymore.. is there a reason for this?

Re: Chevy S-10 Water Pump Troubles

There is a special wrench and holder to remove the fan on those models...it is a GM special tool, but it is availible from aftermarket sources

Just a note to add to GMMerlin's post. One place I have found that is sometimes pretty good for aftermarket tools is ebay. If you arent in a rush to get this job done, try checking there.

Re: Chevy S-10 Water Pump Troubles

hey man im having basically the same problem except i need to remove the power steering pump and the water pump on a 4.3 v-6 out of a 98 s-10. To get the fan clutch off how do you use the clutch puller, and also do you need to remove the entire mounting bracket assembly to get the power steering pump off?
