"supercharger" intake kits on EBay

Link

Link 2

Ok. I know I know. But I just want to see if they "whine" when you press the gas. I need to get an intake for the GT since the stock filter's black as dirt, and I was hovering over EBay (when I should really be studying for my 1000-page metabolic biochemistry exam in 7 hours) and I saw this. I know they've been in existence for a while, and I swear under oath I know it won't make the GT a 10 second car with +300 hp but I want to try it for the hell of it.

So,:

1) has anyone used these? Or anyone you know?

2) If so, what do they sound like?

3) My biggest concern is the "supercharger" fans (and other moving parts) coming lose and being sucked into the intake mani. Yeah, that won't be too good....

Watcha think?

Those fans are plastic and I've heard they break apart and get sucked right into your motor... As far as the whine. There is none. It's an electric fan that runs constantly when you flick the switch for it...

IMO, its not worth the potential damage it can cause.

I thnik I'm suffering from TWS (Turbo Withdrawal Syndrome). Warning: can cause people to go crazy, but is positively corelated to a larger bank balance growth.

What the hell, go for it and see what happens..You can always put some kind of screen after the fan to keep any parts from getting sucked into your motor. The only thing I am concerned with is that it says no fuel upgrades required. I dont know how your car's fuel system is set up but most n/a cars wont add more fuel when boost is applied.

hah... sry that made me chuckle... those "superchargers" are nothing but fans... the seller claims to have measured the amount of air that the fan will move (x cfm)... Now you're car will move Y... so it's X-y=boost...

you better hope that those fans move more air than your motor does...

And BTW, those measurements are done in a freestanding environment, where the air moves freely, not where the fans are required to build pressure...

GL, all I have to say

It's an electric fan. Unless that thing is spinning at the speed of light it isn't going to do crap.

I wouldn't even waste my money paying for the shipping if someone gave it to me. I mean, c'mon Shpyder, there's "Hey, I wonder if it will actually work" for some parts, but this is "Wow, who would EVER buy that". Don't even waste your time.

Re: "supercharger" intake kits on EBay

what ever happened to the good old day when if you wanted to supercharge your engine you bought a supercharger. No but seriously you'll make more power with a leaf blower attached to your intake. <-that was dead serious.

Just in case you were wondering, a supercharger's whine comes from the screws (twin screw supercharger). On streetfire when a video is labeled "supercharged 'something or another'" people always think it's BS if they don't hear while or "belt whine" as if twin screw superchargers were the only kind.

Re: "supercharger" intake kits on EBay

It's like one of those super cool transister chips that adds 20 + hp by bypassing your maf signal and making you constantly dump more fuel than the air can compensate for and eventually ruin sensors, cats, etc.
