recovering leather seat pad

My 1997 Tahoe needed a new leather seat pad cover on driver side.

I got one from an ebay seller J&D Upholstery, 662-335-9461. Hog rings / pliers can be gotten at Orchards/Sears in chain link fence section.

Price was $150 + 15 shipping. BTW, dealer wanted $450 w/o installation.

Happy to report it was easy job. This assumes you have power seats, if you don't it will be even easier.

1) Disconnect wires and remove a plastic cover.
2) Pull four mounting bolts & remove seat.
3) Remove power seat track, 4 bolts
4) Remove seat recline handle & power switch unit
5) Remove hog rings ~12-14
6) Remove cover starting from the back, slide power switch unit thru hole and place into seat
7) Let new cover sit in the sun for awhile to soften it somewhat
8) Install cover over seat, tighten back side velcro strips as much as possible
9) Clip black plastic side-strip (outer-side) then attach inner-side with hog rings.
10) Clip front side with hog rings, then go back and dress/re-tighten back side and add hog rings.
11) Re-install power seat track
12) Locate shaft for recline leaver, cut hole, install lever.
13) Locate power seat switchs & use them as a guide to cut a straight line for an opening to pull the switch unit thru. Install the screws to hold switch unit.
14) Re-install seat and connect wires.

I had mine repaired. It had worn on the outside drivers side from sliding in and out. Local shop did mine for $175. Explained to me that the seat stitching was a French seam and was a bit more difficult. They did a single panel and while its not an exact match, looks good. Happy to find the source you posted for future.

I Have A 2000 Tahoe Limited. Just Had My Broken Driver Seat Welded.

Removing The Bottom Cover Was Pretty Easy. The Driver Pad (crossing Wires Under The Cushion) I Could Not Save. Took It An Interior Shop And They Put It Back Together For Me For $65. I Wish I Would Have Read Your Post Before Going Off And Taking A Part My Seat. It Would Have Saved Me Some Time.
