P0456 code?

i was driving on the way home from work tonight and i got a CEL. took it to my buddys house and used his OBD2 scanner and it came up as P0456 which is something with the EVAP. He cleared the code and it is no longer there but should i be worried about this or?

Thanks
Bryan

Re: P0456 code?

The code points to the Evap Canister Purge Valve leaking slightly. This valve is normally closed but when the computer senses an accumulation of fuel vapor, it opens and discharges the mixture into the intake manifold to be burned along with the regular fuel. Sounds like the valve is leaking a bit. Nothing to be alarmed about. The CEL will come on again after a certain number of starts and stops as long as the problem continues. My suggestion is just to replace it. It is located in the engine compartment close to the intake manifold towards the front. Goo luck.
