DEL SOL IGNITION PROBLEM! help asap

i have a problem with my ignition, i put the key in with the door open..it beeps like normal right, well it wont turn AT ALL..it just stays in the off position, im not sure what is carrying on..i took the back part off ..where the ignition wires are ran to the other side..there are like 4 wires, soldered to the ignition thing, anyways that is all i have fooled with..i have an alarm..but i think it is mechanical failure and not electrical...am i right? is there a solution? anyone else had this problem?

Does it turn with the door shut? Its more then likely just a jammed iggnition switch cylinder.

you know you have to push in slightly to get it to turn, right? I'm assuming you've owned your car for a while and this is a new problem... but yeah you gotta push in a little. And if your steering wheel is locked the key won't turn either... just basic stuff..

Yeah. If you've tried everything else then your best bet is just to replace the whole assembly. Or just make hidden individual switches for each circuit. Race car style. Hidden because then your car would be easier than TSC's sister... to steal, that is.

Re: DEL SOL IGNITION PROBLEM! help asap

I FIXED IT!!! YAY!! i was messing with it today..took the back little white piece off, and i sprayed some wd40 inside the lock itself..and i messed with the white assembly with the wires..and cranked it up with a screw driver..then i put the key in and turned it to on..and it snapped right back together..put the two screws in..as good as new =]after trying for countless hours!! ... im SOOO glad i didnt have to buy a new lock cylinder..thanks everyone for you help =]
