Engine "VIN" question
Well i didnt see a "general question" section under the talon forum so i figured i would post it here, if it needs to be moved please move it and tell me where to post these questions next time. I just had a quick question, when ordering a rebuilt engine they ask you for the "Engine VIN" code... is that different from the Vehicle VIN code... and if so where is the "Engine VIN" code located. Thanks for the help.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
Isn't it just like the engine code? Like for example, turbo Eclipse/Talon would be 4g63t and the non-turbo 2g would be 420a. It should be on a sticker in the engine bay, also.

Should be on the upper firewall of the passenger side.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
Why and where from are you ordering an engine? 99% of the time it's cheaper to rebuild. Also if you don't find it in the engine bay, it's also in the door jam of the drivers door and on the very top corner of the dash on the drivers side.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
I looked this morning then and its exactly where I thought it was. Passenger side firewall and it is also in the door jam like Garrett said.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
Im getting ready to buy a talon (have been for a couple weeks now) and the guy im talking to says the motor needs a rebuild. He said cylinder 3 has low compression and it needs a new set of rings, so i figured i would just put a new motor with some upgraded internals... i was gonna buy a block off an ebay store. Thanks for your help.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
You'd probably be better buying a block from SBR or a reputable company like that versus an ebay motor. Is it a Jackson Auto Machine block? I know they sell stuff on ebay and they're about the only decent ones I'd buy off that site.

Re: Engine "VIN" question
No... it is some company in arizona. On there ebay page it has Route 66 ontop of a desert road in the background. I cant find there page on ebay (i just looked) so there auctions must be over... but i did find a new one. Are these motors any good?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JDM-4...spagenameZWDVW. Thanks for the help guys, cant wait to get into the DSM community.
