88 Cherokee EGR Valve Removal
Hey all!
I have a 88 Cherokee 4.0L 4x4 and I need to get the EGR valve off. It seems almost impossible. I can't get in there with even the smallest torx driver (1/4 inch). Anyone have any suggestions on how to get the valve off? The problem I am having is that it stalls or bogs down when I turn or apply the brake. I've changed the O2 sensor (that was an adventure in of itself), the brake booster, and the IAC valve. It seems fine for a few hours then the stalling starts again. The last thing I can think of is the EGR valve. But before I spend $80 on that, I want to take it off and try cleaning it out. Thanks for any info you might have. |

Re: 88 Cherokee EGR Valve Removal
Changed one on my 89'...wound up using like 2 swivels and a combo of some different extensions.....I don't think there is an easy or sensible way to remove it....

Re: 88 Cherokee EGR Valve Removal
Ah, so I basically have to make a contraption to remove the contraption.
Thanks! |

Re: 88 Cherokee EGR Valve Removal
2 torx bolts...remove the windshiel washer bottle....if you have MPFI remove the air intake hose that goes to the throttle body....give ya a little more room
