Flowmaster 80 :)

Sup guys...

Can my 99 Grand Am SE use a dual exhaust setup with the Flowmaster 80 series or do you recommend the single exhaust setup? I'm seriously considering it after hearing sound clips... and I'm gonna get a PCM for sure now too Thanks!

yes, yes and YES

lol

yes you can do a dual outlet setup with 80 series on your SE, I have it on mine

It really is a preference though if you want dual or single, no hp gain difference. You can probly find a simple in out with any exhaust you choose from. IMO going bigger than 2.5" on the piping seems to much unless SC/Turbo or w/ headers

http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/mufflers.html

As for the PCM, ask me any Qs you have, I can more than likely answer them for you...

if I had a camera w/ me id go record my exhaust setup... =(

More than likely I'm going to turbo or SC someday (probably turbo cause it makes more sense to me on a FWD car...). I REALLY WANT HEADERS too! Where can I find headers for a V6? I looked in a lot of places and couldn't find them... also how much because I prolly can't afford them

Re: Flowmaster 80 :)

OH it deaf-intly is louder and more get-up-&-goo!

To get the most HP for you $$ is to have a 62mm TB,
and a CAI(of coarse) and that 2.5" exhaust.

I bet you could get a ticket in W. Lfyt
At least get Campussy'security out lookin for that V8 tearing up campus

I like the black ones w/ cat.
Mine are nickle, they used to look good, but I wrapped them in heat tape to keep all the heat in.

Remember though, if you plan on getting a turbo,
it comes with custom headers for the turbo.
SO you could always sell the old headers or something.

Re: Flowmaster 80 :)

I'll probably just do NOS later on down the road cause it's cheaper. Dunno though Rather than turbo, I mean.

yuh.. +1 on this

Basically just TB and headers/cat and im done with this part... with the 2.5" piping I figure that'd be enough to support a nice setup with it all done... then hopefully move onto the MMS setup

Re: Flowmaster 80 :)

I have an 03 GT and have the same exact muffler on mine.. I had the muffler shop remove the factory tips and put them back on the 80 series.. I wanted it to look completely factory until you hear me take off. The only problem was the new muffler seemed to sway back and fourth a little over speed bumps and sometimes tap the frame in the back near the bumper, but I fixed that by using a couple of tie wraps to help keep the muffler tight around the hangers.

At first the sound was a little too loud for my tastes so I got some carpet padding and installed it inside the trunk under the trunk lining and it helped insulate the muffler noise and road noise as well since there was hardly any insulation installed from the factory anyways. So I have had the muffler on about 3 years now and actually sounds better after it gets broken in IMO but enjoy.

Interesting idea, pretty secretive .. the sway could of been bad hanger placement... mine are welded and tacked using new rubber hangers to hold it... it doesnt move at all
