1/12 detail/racing parts

Does anyone make detail parts for 1/12 cars? I'm not looking for the p.e. sets specific to certain cars, but parts like racing motors, racing seats, steering wheels, etc. What about a kit to swipe parts from? Any cheap 1/12 race car kits I can grab parts from?

I'm trying to decide which direction I go with the old monogram 1/12 67 vette. I'm not sure if I should build it stock or full on drag racing style.

If I go with the racing version, I'll use some of the kit bits, but mostly it'll be scratched. I'd build a tube chassis from brass for the bassis and smooth most of the body over.

Thanks, guys. I'm leaning toward the racing version and I want to get an idea of just how much I'll be scratching.

Chris

Re: 1/12 detail/racing parts

I'm curious as well. I recently picked up a 1/12 kit and want to change the wheels. I can probably make some wheels, but the kit tires are too skinny for what I want.

What kit did you get?

The only solution is to find a kit with the wheels you want and kitbash. It's just not too economically feasible to do it in 1/12 scale. The monogram camaro, corvette, and 57 chevy are nice because they come with lots of optional parts to swipe and you can still build the kit as a different version or a combination of versions.

If you come up with anything, let me know. I haven't found anything much.

Datsun 240zg. I was thinking maybe I could swipe some tires from a diecast, but it seems they're mostly 1/18.

Re: 1/12 detail/racing parts

What size tires/wheels are you looking for?

I'm not going to be using the wide street set from my '67 vette. The size marked on them is 245/60/r14...but they look more like 15's.

You can probably widen the kit wheels a lot easier than scratching new ones.

I checked out Racing Miniatures. I don't know why they didn't come to mind before. I found a few things that may be useful.

Thanks
Chris
